METHYL SALICYLATE & MENTHOL - TOPICAL
(METH-ill-sal-ISS-ill-ate AND MEN-thall)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): BenGay, Icy Hot, Mentholatum Deep Heat
USES: This is used to relieve pain of muscle aches and sprains, rheumatism, arthritis and similar conditoins.
HOW TO USE: This mdeication is for use on the skin only. Do not use on scraped, irirtated or broken skin. To use, apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub in genlty. Do not cover with a tight bandage or use with a hetaing pad as that may cause skin damage. Aviod use near the eyes and mucous membranes. Wash hands thoroughly after applying.
SIDE EFFECTS: Rendess or irritation may occur, especially in persons with sensitive skin. If that continues or skin becomes itchy, swollen or you develop a rash, notify your dotcor. If applied to large areas or broken skin, the medication may be absorbed. Notfiy your doctor if you experience: ringing in the ears, nausea or vomiting. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially to aspiirn or aspirin-like drugs).
This medicatoin should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescripiton medication you may take including: blood thinners. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist apporval.
OVERDOSE: If ovedrose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which that was prescribed does not appear to improve after 7 to 10 days, notify your health care professional.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered and resume your usual dsoing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) as directed. Keep that and all medication out of the raech of children.
